See the Best of Batam
Looking for something a little different to Bali, but still just as lively? Batam is one of the fastest growing cities of Indonesia, located south of Singapore, and is one of the main islands in the Riau Archipelago of Indonesia.
Batam is a shopper’s paradise, as the whole island is duty free! The city is teeming with malls, restaurants, shopping plazas, music lounges, cinemas, bars and street stalls. Try the Mega Mall in Batam centre or the Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. Once the sun goes down, the nightlife heats up. The streets become crowded as men and women flock to the best bars and clubs in search of music and great cocktails.
There’s something for the sports enthusiasts too. Batam is famous for its water sports facilities and you can spend days trying your hand at cable skiing, para-sailing, jet skiing, canoeing and fishing. Land activities include go-karting, horse riding, and a wide selection of beautiful golf courses. Or get up in the air with a joy flight that lets you see the city from a whole new perspective!
If cultural sight seeing is more your style, then Batam won’t disappoint. Bantam’s main cultural attractions are the impressive Masjid Jabal Arafah mosque, the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple and the Tua Pek Kong Temple. The Barelang Bridge is also a must-see attraction in Batam, and refers to the chain of six bridges that connect the islands of Batam, Galang and Rempang. The Tengku Fisabilillah bridge, connecting Batam to Tonton island, is a famous cable-stayed bridge stretching 642m.
Whatever your holiday style, Batam can provide. We recommend getting here quick before the word gets out about this Indonesian treasure.
