Getting Around Canberra
Canberra is a well-planned city, filled with parks and well-lit paths that are very conducive to exploration on foot. For a stroll with a view, head to Lake Burley Griffin and the inner-city Canberra Nature Park areas.
With its abundance of city bike lanes and nearby hills perfect for mountain biking, Canberra considers itself the cycling capital of Australia. Mr Spokes Bike Hire specialises in road bikes, while Capital Bicycle Hire has your mountain-biking needs covered.
ACT Internal Omnibuses, known informally as Action buses, are Canberra’s only form of public transport. Tickets can be bought from registered Action agents or on board, and a MyWay travel card enables slightly cheaper fares.
Canberra’s streets are wide and generally uncongested, which makes for relatively calm inner-city driving. Cars can be hired from the airport.
