If you are wondering what Edutainment is, it is as simple as the combination of Education and Entertainment to make learning fun. Here are some activities to fulfil your kids bucket list lined up below:

1. Explore the Australian Museum

Immerse yourself in Australia’s first museum of internationally recognised collection of over 18 million cultural and scientific objects.

Mammoths with Interactive Elements 

Location: Australian Museum 

Operating Hours: 9.30 am – 5.30 pm every day except Christmas Day 

Admission Fees: Adult $24 | Child (5-15 yrs) $14 | Child (0-4 yrs) FREE (Inclusive of general admission)

Here at Mammoths with interactive elements, your kids get to explore their curiosity with the preview of Mammoths- Giants of the Ice Age. Keeping them interactive with features over 100 specimens and 6 touchable models to keep them focused. This includes feeling the mammoths fur, touching the teeth of the colossal mastodon and joust with mammoth tusks. Exploring how they lived with other giant creatures and learn why humans hunted but also honoured these majestic animals.

Kidspace for under 5s

Location: Australian Museum, Level 2

Operating Hours: 9.30 am – 5.00 pm

Admission Fees: Adult $15 | Child FREE (Inclusive of general admission)

For kids under the age of 5, there is also a mini museum catered to them. Visit the Kidspace for under 5s, with 5 pods of fun filled activities to build your imagination and explore the natural world of concepts and animals. This dedicated mini-museum allows kids to be at their own freedom, peering through magnifying glasses, looking at animal x-rays and even touching a human skeleton. Additionally, there are also daily activities at 2pm which changes every day. It is also a baby-friendly space with a closed-space area to keep the babies safe but still no restriction of movements. 

2. Learn & Play! Team Lab Future Park at the Powerhouse Museum 

Date: Now till 30 April 2018

Location: Powerhouse Museum, 500 Harris St, Ultimo NSW 2007

Operating Hours: 10 am – 5 pm

Admission Fees: Adult $28 | Child (4-16 yrs) $17.30 | Child (0-3 yrs) FREE

Do not miss out on the latest exhibition by Japanese art collective teamLab. Future Park features eight interactive light installation that caters to both adults and children. Bringing together science and creativity that changes and evolve every day which responds to human interaction. An activity that will leave you mind blown.

3. Nature/Outdoor experiences in the regions 

Sand Dunes Safaris at Port Stephens

Location: Lower Car Park, End of James Paterson St, Anna Bay

Kids explore the wild ride down the largest sand dunes at Stockton Bight with the Sand Tobogganing and Camel Rides along Birubi Beach.

Hunter Valley Zoo

Location: 288 Talga Rd, Rothbury NSW 2320, Australia

Operating Hours: 9 am – 4 pm every day except for Wednesday

Admission: Adults $29 | Child (3 - 15 yrs) $15 | Child (0 - 2 yrs) FREE

For the younger kids, have an interactive time with the wild and unique native animals here. Hold, feed and even cuddle up with koalas.

Balloons Aloft 

Location: 1/26 Lodge Rd, Lovedale NSW 2325, Australia

Operating Hours: 9 am – 4 pm every day

Admission: $269 per person
