Travel to Fraser Island
Book your flights to Hervey Bay
The easiest way to get to Fraser Island is to fly to Hervey Bay and take a ferry over to the west side of the island. Both QantasLink and Virgin Australia operate regular flights to Hervey Bay, which is approximately 90 minutes flying time from Sydney.
You can also fly to the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) and drive approximately two hours to Rainbow Beach, taking a barge across to the east coast of Fraser Island from Inskip Point.
A great range of Fraser Island holiday packages

See it all on a Fraser Island tour
One of the best ways to see the sights of Fraser Island is on a tour. If you don't have your own four-wheel-drive, a tour will allow you to explore places sometimes out of reach, such as Lake McKenzie, the Maheno Shipwreck and 75 Mile Beach, with someone else tackling the sandy terrain.
Hit the sand highway in a hire car
Fraser Island is a 4WD playground, offering some of the best sand four-wheel-driving in the world. Keep in mind that hiring a car to drive on the sand can cost a little extra and you should always check tide conditions before driving on the beach.
