Getting Around Launceston
Launceston is a compact, well-signposted city with a pedestrianised zone at its centre. Follow one of the council’s Launceston Heritage Walks to ensure you take in the city’s colonial architecture.
Hire a bike and explore Launceston’s 35 kilometres of inner-city cycleways, or let off some steam on a mountain bike at Hollybank Mountain Bike Park, Kate Reed Reserve, or Trevallyn Reserve, all less than 20 minutes from the city.
Buses are Launceston’s only form of public transport. Metro covers in and around the city centre, while Redline Coaches and Tassielink regional coaches will get you to Tasmania’s other cities.
If you plan to explore Tasmania beyond Launceston, a car will open up your options. A number of rental companies operate from the airport.
