Whether you appreciate the design and engineering of classic and vintage automobiles, or hunger for the rev and power of racing cars, the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is set to quench any car lover’s thirst with its extensive collection of themed car exhibits as well as motorcycles and memorabilia.

All of the museum’s vehicles are privately owned and exhibits change regularly, making it that little bit more exciting to come along and catch a glimpse of something unique or rare.

Examples of just some of the themed exhibits that have heated up the museum’s floor over time include one celebrating the life and achievements of the legendary racing-car driver Peter Brock (Remembering Brock: Road to Glory) and one showcasing the elegance and prestige of world-renowned luxury automobiles brand Rolls-Royce (The Spirit of Ecstasy).

The museum takes visitors on a journey through more than 100 years of automotive history presented in a way that engages, delights, inspires and entertains and, adding fuel to any petrolhead’s fire, visitors can also enjoy a range of classic and vintage motorcycles.

The on-site gift shop is loaded with one of the largest ranges of automotive merchandise in Australia, so be sure to leave time to browse – you might find some excellent souvenirs which also make good gifts for friends and family.

The National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is located just a short walk from Launceston's city centre and is opposite the beautiful City Park – a popular place to walk through or to have a picnic lunch. The museum is open every day except Christmas Day. Other nearby attractions include the Boag’s Centre for Beer Lovers on William Street and the Queen Victoria Museum located just on the other side of Victoria Bridge.
